Eight seniors awarded 2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarships

61 nominees honored during annual banquet

Graduating seniors across the region were honored Tuesday, June 19, during the 2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarships banquet at Parkview Mirro Center for Research & Innovation. Eight winners received $8,000 scholarships – made possible by Parkview Health Foundations – for their academic excellence, athletic achievement and community involvement.

The 2026 winners are: Hannah Clark of Concordia Lutheran High School, Wijdan Mohammedain of North Side High School, McKale Bottles of West Noble High School, Laney Musall of North Miami High School, Caitlyn Mead of Wayne Trace High School, Madison Caldwell of Peru High School, Samantha Aselage of Bishop Dwenger High School/PSM EDGE and Brayden Rice of Northfield High School (Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship). [Winner bios included below]

Student-athletes were nominated by PSM athletic trainers at the students’ schools or by PSM Performance specialists who work with the athletes in sports performance training. Winners are selected among the nominees by the PSM Working Committee. Eligible student-athletes must participate in one sport their senior year and hold a grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (9.0 on a 12.0 scale).

This year, 61 nominees from 37 high schools were recognized during the banquet with a video produced by the PSM Outreach Team and a certificate from PSM.

Rapheal Davis, a former basketball star at South Side High School and Purdue University turned Big Ten Network analyst, served as the guest speaker at the banquet. Davis founded CREW Life, a non-profit organization that provides life skills development through youth sports programming. Brett Rump, the Voice of High School Sports on 1380 The Fan/100.9FM, served as the emcee of the event.

The Albright Gemlick Scholarships have been awarded since the 2003-04 school year, and bear the names of two late SportONE physicians: Dr. James E. Albright, who passed away in 1993; and Dr. Brett F. Gemlick, who passed away in 2019. Over 23 years, more than 100 scholarships totaling more than $300,000 have been awarded to student-athletes in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.


2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Hannah Clark of Concordia Lutheran High School

Hannah Clark ran cross country and track & field at Concordia. In cross country, she was a 4-time All-Summit Athletic Conference runner and was part of three IHSAA State Runner-Up teams. In track, she was part of an indoor state runner-up team and ran a leg of the Cadets’ 4×800-meter relay team that placed 7th at the IHSAA State Championships. She has also qualified for the New Balance Indoor National Championships. Outside of sports, Hannah is a member of the National Honor Society and helps classmates with their academic, mental and spiritual needs in the Concordia Peer Ministry and Koinonia Club. She also volunteers with Shepherd’s Hand Community Outreach Center and leads youth group worship and service trips at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Hannah graduated with a 3.95 GPA and is a four-time Academic All-State honoree.  She will attend Belmont University, study nursing and run cross country and track for the Bruins.


2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Wijdan Mohammedin from North Side High School

Wijdan Mohammedin is a four-sport athlete from North Side: volleyball, tennis, cross country and track & field. She earned Most Improved Player awards in both tennis and volleyball and was a distance captain for the track & field team. Wijdan is also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Athletics Association and editor of the The Legend yearbook. She earned a 4.6 GPA and was salutatorian of the graduating class. While at North Side, Wijdan had a student internship for pediatric medicine at Parkview Health. She also volunteered with North Side’s Kids Surviving Cancer Christmas Party and has packed more than 100,000 meals for Palestinian families in need through the Universal Education Foundation. Wijdan will attend Indiana University and study biology. Her goal is to become a pediatric oncology physician assistant and hopes to help with the United Nations Children’s Fund.


2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: McKale Bottles of West Noble High School

McKale Bottles played football, baseball, ran track and played one year of basketball during his time at West Noble. In football, McKale earned All-Northeast Corner Conference and KPC All-Area honors three times, and was named Team MVP as a senior. He was a three-year starter in baseball, and ran the 200-meter dash in track. He also volunteers as an elementary school track coach and serves as a peer tutor for English Language Learner classmates. In the community, he volunteers at The Caring Closet for families in need, helps at the Ligonier Recreation Center and rings bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign. While at West Noble, McKale took part in a work-based learning program that provided him job shadow opportunities at the Parkview Ortho Hospital and Parkview Heart Institute. McKale earned a 4.09 GPA, ranked fourth in the West Noble senior class, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He will attend the University of Indianapolis to study biology on a pre-med path while playing linebacker for the UIndy football team.


2025 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Laney Musall of North Miami High School

Laney Musall played basketball and golf at North Miami. In basketball, she was a 3-time All-Conference selection (Three Rivers Conference and Hoosier North Athletic Conference) and a 1,000-point scorer. She was also part of two sectional championships,  a regional championship and an HNAC championship. In golf, she was All-Conference twice and helped North Miami to an HNAC team title. She also played softball for one season. Outside of sports, she was a member of the National Honor Society, student council, student-athlete council and served as a senior class officer. During Laney’s senior year, a fire destroyed her family home and a knee injury cut short her basketball season, but she persevered through the adversity. Laney earned a 3.9 GPA and ranked 8th in the North Miami senior class. She will attend Manchester University, where she will study exercise science with an emphasis in athletic training and will play women’s basketball for the Spartans.


2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Caitlyn Mead of Wayne Trace High School

Caitlyn Mead played basketball and softball all four years at Wayne Trace, winning the Most Improved Player award on both teams. In basketball, she was an Academic All-Green Meadows Conference selection and part of an sectional championship team. In softball, she earned the Raider Award for her character and leadership. Caitlyn was also part of the Wayne Trace Raider Marching Band, playing four different instruments and competing at state competitions. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and helps with the Mini Raider Basketball Camp. Her volunteer work includes Habitat For Humanity, Special Olympics, and local nursing homes. She earned a 4.0 GPA. While at Wayne Trace, Caitlyn participated in a job shadow experience in water conservation projects through the Ohio State University Extension. Caitlyn will attend Bowling Green State University to study biology and continue her efforts in water conservation.


2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Madison Caldwell of Peru High School

Madison Caldwell played golf for all four years at Peru High School, earning three varsity letters and one Honorable Mention All-Three Rivers Conference nod. She also served as manager for the girls basketball team and the cheerleading squad. Madison is a member of student council, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Distinguished Young Women of Miami County and the Golden Guard, which a student organization that serves as hosts for Peru High School events. She also volunteers for the YMCA Childwatch Program, Miami County Biddyball youth basketball league and the Fairy Godmother Project of Miami County, which provides free or low-cost prom dresses and accessories for local high school students. Madison earned a 10.082 GPA on a 12-point scale. She is headed to Franklin College and plans to study exercise science with hopes of becoming an athletic trainer.


2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Samantha Aselage of Bishop Dwenger High School & PSM EDGE Sports Performance Program

Samantha Aselage exceled at soccer and track & field at Bishop Dwenger. In track & field, she won a sectional championship in the 400-meter dash as a sophomore and back-to-back sectional titles with the 4×400-meter relay team. She’s a two-time All-Summit Athletic Conference selection and a two-time State qualifier. Dwenger also won two SAC championships as a team. In soccer, Sami earned All-SAC honors three times, All-District honors twice, and was 3rd Team All-State as a senior. Dwenger won three SAC titles and a sectional title, as well. She also played club soccer for Fort Wayne United. Sami is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Future Business Leaders of America, the Rosary-making club, March For Life and the youth group at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Sami earned a 4.5 GPA and ranked 4th in the Saints senior class. She has trained with EDGE, the PSM sports performance training program, for the last three years. Sami has been appointed to the United States Military Academy West Point and will run for the Army West Point women’s track & field team while studying engineering.


2026 Albright Gemlick Scholarship Winner: Brayden Rice of Northfield High School (Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship)

Each year, PSM awards the Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship as part of the Albright Gemlick Scholarships. The award is named for Carter Fleck, a 17-year-old Homestead High School who passed away from cancer in 2016. The Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a nominee who demonstrates exceptional character. The 11th annual Carter Fleck Memorial Scholarship goes to Brayden Rice of Northfield High School.

Brayden earned 11 varsity letters in football, wrestling and track & field while at Northfield. In football, he was twice named team captain, awarded the team Mental Attitude Award, and earned Academic All-State honors. In wrestling, he was a Three Rivers Conference champion at 126 lbs. and qualified for Semi-State. He earned 1st Team All-State and Academic All-TRC honors, and was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. In track & field, he advanced to Regional as part of the Norse 4×800-meter relay team. Brayden is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers with the Special Olympics. He is also active in 4-H, where he has earned Grand Champion in steer and chicken competitions, qualified for the Indiana State Fair in arts & crafts and was recognized with a Player With Heart Award from Beck’s for his dedication to athletics and agriculture. Brayden is attending Manchester University, study biochemistry and wrestle for the Spartans. He hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon.
